Questions & answers

Who leads 2026 power battery installations?

CATL. Per CABIA, its domestic installations reached 121.66 GWh in January–May 2026 for a 47.02% share; second-placed BYD (FinDreams) had 43.31 GWh and 16.74%.

How does the China scope differ from the global scope?

CABIA counts only batteries actually installed in NEVs domestically — excluding exports and storage. Global scopes (such as SNE Research) count battery use in EVs registered worldwide, including Chinese makers' overseas installations. The same company's share differs: CATL was 43.42% in the 2025 China scope but 39.2% globally.

LFP or ternary — which installs more?

LFP dominates: 208.2 GWh and an 80.4% share in January–May 2026, versus 50.8 GWh (19.6%) for ternary; LFP's share was already 81.2% across 2025 (CABIA).

Why is BYD's share falling?

FinDreams primarily supplies BYD vehicles with limited external sales, so its share tracks BYD's domestic volumes: from 21.58% across 2025 to 16.74% in January–May 2026, while CATL rose from 43.42% to 47.02% (CABIA).

Where does SVOLT rank in 2026?

Per CABIA, SVOLT installed 4.86 GWh in January–May 2026 (1.88% share), ranking 11th — just behind LG Energy Solution.

How often is installation data updated?

CABIA publishes monthly battery data — output, sales, installations, company positions, and exports — in the first half of each month for the prior month; this ranking uses the May 2026 monthly report published in June 2026.
